One Oregon winery has found a great way to give back to the community at-large through their innovative Give & Taste program. Duck Pond Cellars is a family-owned winery in Dundee that remains small at heart despite being one of the largest producers in the State. Greg Fries, son of original owners Doug and Jo Ann Fries, personally selects the fruit and barrel lots for every Duck Pond wine produced, ensuring all wines meet a high quality and craftsmanship standard.
Twice a year, Duck Pond partners with up to three nonprofits for a six-month period as part of their Give & Taste Program. Every month their tasting room features a special wine only available for tasting as part of the Give & Taste Program. Guests may pay a nominal fee to taste the wine, and the entire tasting fee is donated to the nonprofit of their choice. Since its inception in July 2014, tasters have donated $4,726 through this program and we’re very excited to have been chosen for the second season of 2018.
Beginning in July through December of 2018, NICU Families Northwest will be a beneficiary of Duck Pond Cellars’ Give & Taste program and we couldn’t be happier. Please do visit the Duck Pond tasting room and cast your tasting fee toward our organization in support of our programs and services. As an organization, we’ll be planning a day for many of us to visit the winery as a social event in mid-July or early August. You can find them at 23145 OR-99W, in Dundee, OR, zip code 97115.
Duck Pond Cellars crafts wines reflective of the unique agricultural makeup, or “terroir” of Oregon. Their Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir can be found across the U.S., while a small production single-vineyard Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir cuvees, and specialty wines including Gamay Noir, Rose of Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir Blanc and small lot Pinot Gris are available through their tasting room, wine club, and online marketplace only. Go and have a taste with your family or friends and you’ll be raising your glass to NICU Families NW and all we do for local families.
